Really interesting article. I especially liked how it showed a real life situation and then stepped through it with an explanation.
Very cool article. I also liked that it told real-world stories and then stepped you through positive approaches. The visual layout of the page is also well done so the article's easy to read.
This is a great article! It doesn't just state a valuable tip,but also illustrates a real-life example to accompany the advice - very helpful!
This is a must read for all parents, but even more so for socially/emotionally challenged children. In addition to the tips they give real life examples of each.
Even though I'm not a parent, I'm around young children all the time, and this website is fantastic. Most people don't think about the mental health of children, especially children between birth & toddler-hood. This website encourages parents, and those who spend time around children, to ENCOURAGE rather than DISCOURAGE their children with their activities. Rather than focus on the negative, this site gives parents & childcare workers some information on positive childrearing.
This is a great guide to good parenting. What I remember about my parenting is the expectation to be a child prodigy musician like my father and failing because my mother was abusive and I was probably depressed from an early age, couldn't concentrate on practicing, didn't win the awards, lost my confidence, endured 7 cancer deaths from 13 to 35, and had to spend my time fighting to keep any sort of self-esteem I could figure out how to keep. High expectations, parents living through their children, especially through sports, parents passing on grudges between different parts of one family to the children -- and God forbid if the child inherited a personality characteristic from the part of the family the parent hated. You know, reading these heavenly accounts of good parenting is fine, but I don't think they mesh with a lot of reality.
